Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Randle.
Hi Chris, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Reading the question, “How did you get to where you are today?” is kinda weird. I immediately thought, “where am I?” That question is a big part of my story. A guy trying to figure out where he is and who he is. A guy who hasn’t always realized that he is really dope. That’s not an arrogant realization but one that reveals the fact that you are super unique because there is nobody like you. So because you are alive, that means you are automatically really dope. You don’t have to try to be. You don’t have to create someone that’s really dope, you already are. I think there are a lot of people in similar places and have similar struggles about who they are.
I’m Chris Randle, the “really dope” guy. That’s true, all my social media handle are @reallydopename. It’s a message I needed to continue to remind myself. I’m an actor, a voice-over artist, a comedian, a podcaster, a writer and life coach. Years ago, I would have never put down all the things that I do. Something about a lot of coma’s makes people go, “ok, we get it, you can do a lot. Now erase some of that”. LOL, It least that’s what I have thought before. I don’t actually know what people are thinking; that’s just me assuming. Maybe because that’s what I secretly think about other people. I used to anyway. Now I understand that people are multifaceted. People have a lot talents and gifts. We have to allow them to share them with us. No, wait, that’s not correct. YOU have to allow yourself to share them with others. Basically, realize you are really dope and you are good at a lot of shit. Don’t be afraid or embarrassed about that. I started acting when I was in high school and decided that’s the thing I would pursue. High school was a time I watched people do things and be themselves but for some reason, I didn’t jump out and be me until later. I was afraid of failing or afraid I wasn’t good enough or I bought into the idea that I had to pick one thing to be good at. Or maybe it was all of the above. I fell in love with acting but didn’t go after it 100% because, as I think back, I didn’t know I could go for it all the way.
I’m 18 or 19 and felt like I needed to have something more stable in place, like a degree to “fall” back on or more money saved. As the years went on, I picked safer routes and life continued and me and my girlfriend, Kamika, had our first son, Caleb. We got married soon after. I’m 26 at this time and giving entertainment 100% seemed difficult. How can I do that now? The road to my dream was vague. Three years later, we have our second son, Calen. Other gifts within me started to take shape and now my gifts are competing with one another. Before this, I had never done more than one thing at a time. I took a big leap of faith and moved to California in 2012, determined to not let fear keep me from my dreams. My family wasn’t with me so the distance made it difficult. Despite the difficulty, I am grateful to God that He allowed me to book a national commercial for Kraft Velveeta cheese. After a year and a half, I moved back to Texas to be with my family. What do you do while you’re on your way to your dream? That question has filled my mind since 2013. It’s easy to think once you really try to go for it, if it doesn’t work, you’re done. I’m an example of it’s not over until you’re dead. It may be a dark idea but it’s true. If you have time, you have time. I started researching life coaching while in Cali so I decided to get my certification when I moved back to Texas. Working with others to help build their confidence has proven to be extremely rewarding. So while I was building my coaching practice, I was also researching and making a path back to entertainment. So I worked with my best friend, comedian Sydney Castillo, was lives in Cali as a consultant on his comedy projects and other writing opportunities to continue to hone my skills.
The road to success is long and patience is needed. I have been fortunate enough to do and work in the areas of my dreams. I’m still on the journey and still writing my story. I’m happy to continue that story with my wife and now three kids. I hope this story and my life can be an example to people to keep working, find the good in life and never forget how dope God made you.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. I struggled with confidence, confusion, and death. My father was murdered in 2016. It stopped all the momentum I had going at that time.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I create content for entertainment and also for personal growth. I specialize in comedy-based content whether it’s to make you laugh or make you think. I’m best known my charisma. I’m a really energetic guy and it is evident in everything that I do. I am extremely proud of The Chris Randle Podcast because of it’s affect on the guests. It gives people a chance to tell their story. They often tell me how therapeutic it is for them. I am a true fan of people and want to see them succeed and enjoy life. I give 100% in my effort to support.
What does success mean to you?
Not giving up on your goals. You can’t be successful if you give up. So the first mark of success is definitely sticking with your goal.
