Today we’d like to introduce you to Cam The Tastemaker.
Cam, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I actually started off wanting to be a recording artist. After a few performances that showed I could bring a small crowd, the owner of the venue asked me to help coordinate the event. No brainer, right? That means I have full control and can put myself in the best spots for each show, etc. That quickly got old for the audience and myself, so I had to do something different.
I learned that if I actually gave other artists with small crowds a space to perform, they would bring people for me to perform in front of that didn’t know me already. From there, the shows got better, and my pockets were getting filled even when I wasn’t performing. I became more and more intrigued by the business side of throwing events and grew a love for helping artists gain exposure. My mentality totally switched from what I can do for me to what I can do for you.
The deeper I got into what other opportunities artists needed to impact their career, the less I worried about making music, and the more I wanted to create superstars. I always felt that I could help people better than I could help myself. Attended college and studied Commercial Music Business, which showed me the true potential of the music industry. Fast forward to now, I quit my career to help artists create theirs through creative and label services by using the network I have built over the years to gain exposure for artists.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I help artists and creatives amplify their presence and dominate the digital arenas needed to be successful.
My network and I connect artists to an unmatched community of independent creators across a diverse range of verticals. From music to fashion, sports, and entertainment. The relationships built with these brands is how we are able to duplicate the very same techniques and processes as successful major label artists.
My hope is to provide tangible resources for the everyday recording artist. I always tell creatives, you do not have to be famous in order to make a living in the music industry. Once you have an understanding of your audience and how to monetize that, you can have complete control over your career.
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
Just being able to put food on the table doing what I love to do. There is no end line; success is a journey, not a destination.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
