Today we’d like to introduce you to Garrick Hutchins.
Garrick, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Believe it or not my love for DJ’ing actually happened by accident. It started 6 years ago when I received a phone call from a buddy of mine with a kid’s party business. He was in a bit of a pickle on that particular day because one of his employees was not going to be able to make it to work, so he wanted to know if I could fill in to play music for the party. My immediate thoughts were no way! I had never even thought about playing music for parties and definitely not for a children’s event! Not to mention I had no previous musical background or experience in running DJ software. Even with all that being true I could tell by the sound of his voice he was in desperate need of help….and so the dream began. I navigated my way through that party flawlessly enjoying every minute of it! The next week he called again and I jumped at the opportunity to help out. After about a year and a half of doing kid’s parties I had gained a true passion for music and entertaining. It was at that point I felt I had more to offer than just playing songs for the kiddos. I wanted to branch out and start my own DJ company, providing music for ALL types of celebrations. This is when All Things Elegant Entertainment was born.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a high energy, interactive DJ/MC that likes to ensure everyone is having a great time while celebrating your special day. My overall goal is to get people excited about being at that particular location at that particular time. On any given night I’m sure there are other places those guests could have chosen to be. It is my intention to make sure they leave knowing nowhere else could have been as much fun as what they just experienced.
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
I believe true success is obtained when you are completely fulfilled with where you are as an artist. You must have the passion, drive, and most importantly patience to be successful. I like to use the old cliché’ of “This business is not a sprint, it is a marathon.” If you remain consistent in your work ethic the success is inevitable.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
