Today we’d like to introduce you to Jammie Holmes.
Jammie, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Originally from a small town named Thibodaux La located 45 minutes from new Orleans la. Started painting in 2016 but sketched from the moment I was able to pick up a color, marker, pen or pencil.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I create an abstract way of viewing different subject matters. My style is called expressionism. All my work is Acrylic on canvas. My biggest inspiration is life events around the world and my childhood to adulthood. I hope when my work is viewed by collectors, buyers and art lovers they walk away with substance. I hope within every piece that I create, someone can either relate to the situation, or they are interested to do research on the subject that I creatively put on canvas for them.
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
I defined success as not only completing a painting but getting up to face the canvas and starting. To become successful as an artist, you have to stay humble and have the same work ethic of when you first began.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can find my work on my website and also Instagram.
