Today we’d like to introduce you to Janna Morris.
Janna, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I have been shooting photography full time since 2017. During that time, I’ve been raising my little girl, I obtained my B.S. in paralegal studies, and met countless people along the way. I am a single mom, so I juggle my day time job, my photography, and being a mom the best that I can – I wouldn’t change any part of my life. If I’m not shooting and/or chasing my daughter around, you will find me on my bed playing my guitar or reading a book.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I’m a photographer. I go everywhere with my camera and rarely will you see me without it. I’m an all-purpose photographer shooting from families, maternity, engagements, and weddings. My love for shooting family portraits will never go away. I have a two-year-old daughter, and I love looking back at our photos together just watching our memories build. I hope to give other families a memory that seems like a story that they can look back at it. My daughter is my inspiration; she’s why I do everything. I want her to grow up chasing every dream and goal – finding her passion. My love has always been through a lens, and I pursued that, so my hope is that she does the same if that’s music, art, dancing, or whatever it may be. It’s very hard for me to stick to one method of editing when it comes to light and airy or dark and moody. I feel it depends on the scene, the people, and the mood. There is never a right or wrong way with art.
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
If you’re pursuing your passion, never giving up, and always trying to be better than the day before, then I find that being successful. I try to join as many workshops that I can and as many styled sessions to learn and connect with other artists around. There is never a cap on learning something because there is much and so many new things to learn.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
My work can be seen on Facebook, Instagram, and through my website.
