Check Out Michael Frazier’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Frazier.

Hi Michael, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I have always loved performing arts and music. Ever since I was a child, I always dreamt of being a Popstar. After spending several years in Los Angeles writing music, performing, and teaching dance, I relocated back to Dallas and have been building my Popstarz brand since then. Popstarz is an adult-only dance experience that takes place every Thursday where I teach a choreographed dance routine to some of the most iconic Pop songs. My main goal is to give adults (whether they have dance experience or not) an opportunity to be somebody that they are not everyday… like a Popstar. The music is always fun and upbeat, the lights are low and it’s the perfect environment for people to let go and have an hour that’s just for them.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think that my biggest obstacle has been that for so many years, I have been creating this Popstarz Movement and giving people this experience, but I never gave it a name or branded it as such. I suppose maybe I wasn’t brave enough to do so or thought people wouldn’t follow me if I decided to branch out on my own. When I finally decided to do that, it felt so right and suddenly I had all kinds of ideas that I was excited about, but also my students were excited about as well.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What I do is provide the ultimate Popstar experience for people. Not only do I teach a weekly dance class called Popstarz to adult students of all levels, but I also provide those students with opportunities to participate in projects such as music videos, live performances, and professional photoshoots.

I am most proud of taking a dream that I once had and pivoting with it to where I am still getting to do something that I love doing, but I am also bringing joy to others.

I think what sets me apart is a truly unique idea when it comes to the dance world. And on top of that, an extremely welcoming environment that is judgment-free. Everybody is welcome always.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I think the most important lesson that I have learned along my journey is to believe in myself. It sounds like such a simple thing, but it wasn’t until I started doing it, that I felt successful and fulfilled by what I was doing.
