Check out Stephanie Barrans’ Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Barrans.

Stephanie, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I have always been into art of all kinds but settled down on Photography in High School as my main medium. Every now and then I still love to make art in the 3d form, and the occasional painting as well. Art is just one way I have always been able to express myself the best way, and once I started photographing, I realized I can photograph beauty in all forms from landscapes to portraits, to things most people would overlook such as my abandoned series.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do? Why? And what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I photograph portraits of couples, newborns, maternity, and families, with my Canon camera. I love getting to see the reactions of the happy families who receive my photographs of the moments they wish to cherish such as the birth of their newborn. Photographing portraits was really just something I chose to do after college because you got to capture candid moments and see what people are like outside of the workplace in their own personal life.

Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
As a photographer, my art has not been taken serious by those who are traditional artist at times such as painters and those who draw, so it heightens the urge to make amazing work. Another problem I run into as a photographer is that everyone today owns a camera or a phone, and likes to photograph making it our biggest completion for giving sessions that are cheaper, which makes you want to stand out more.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
My website, Instagram, and Facebook fan page are always being updated with current portraits of clients, as well as experimental sessions that I do for fun such as using smoke, or different methods to create fantasy photos. As for my Landscapes, I have a couple of photos in the Waxahachie City Hall currently until their next showing this summer, as they are always rotating them out. As for the best way to support my work, it would be to book a session of your choice through my website.
