Conversations with Lester Greene

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lester Greene.

Hi Lester, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I drove buses in NYC for 11 years and during that time, I was a recording artist. I released a few albums on iTunes and then I hit a dead-end street. I just didn’t want to do music anymore. My friend then suggested that I give acting a chance. I tried it and fell in love with it. I haven’t stopped since.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been very challenging because I’m constantly trying to find quality people in this business. So many people lack professionalism and proper etiquette. I guess I have an old school mentality because I believe that your word is your bond.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an actor/producer and they call me “The Connector.” I love connecting people with other people. Networking is my specialty. I’m also a talk show host. I have two talk shows: “Out On The Front Lines” and “The Highlight Reel” with my co-host Naz Pankey. I’m most proud of my long-term relationship with my partner and my dog Emma. They are my biggest supporters and I wouldn’t be here without them.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I am definitely a risk-taker. I am fearless when it involves acting. I’ll give you an example. I live in Atlanta and I had a callback for this film that was being directed by Javon Johnson. The callback location was in South Carolina. I drove to SC for the callback, not even knowing if I would book the job. I didn’t care, though. I love acting so much that I would travel anywhere to do it. I just believe in myself and my talents. I didn’t book the job but I know I left a lasting impression. It’s not always about winning. Sometimes, it’s about showing up and showing out.
