Conversations with Chill Will Da Don

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chill Will Da Don.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story started when I first wrote 2pacs lyrics down and memorized them to rap along with the song. At age 11, I started jotting down lyrics of my own but didn’t know how to create a song yet. It wasn’t until I reached high school(age 14) that I started recording in studios. Then I went away to college and recorded in Dorm rooms after football practice. It was there I built lifelong music relationships some still to this day and got into the flow of recording a lot of songs. Then I’m 2005, I moved to Dallas with my father and got two songs on k104 within the first few years living there. Ever since I’ve been locked in recording music non-stop as an independent artist.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not really struggles more so having the talent but not being able to find the major backing but over the years, I’ve grown to love being independent because I have creative freedom and not some label telling me when I can put music out.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What sets me apart is my thought process. I could spend countless hours going through beats before I choose the one that fits my current mood. Then I freestyle in my head then write the lyrics on the paper. Yes, I still use Note pads!

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My vision! I can the bigger picture months out and how I’m gonna get to that finish line.
