Exploring Life & Business with Tamela Bowie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamela Bowie.

Hi Tamela, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had a natural talent towards making spaces beautiful. Even as a young teenager, I would redecorate my bedroom at least once a week. My mother would never know what to expect when it came to my bedroom furniture arrangement and my many poster galleries. My love of decorating would grow with me as I grew up into adulthood where I would decorate the homes of friends and family, but only as a hobby. After spending two years in the legal profession as a paralegal and later five years in corporate America, I decided it was time to re-design my life and career. I made the decision to turn my part-time hobby into a new and exciting full-time career. After leaving corporate America, I opened the doors of Tamela Bowie Interiors in the fall of 1999 to service clients who wanted spaces in their homes designed for “how they really live in their home”…aesthetically pleasing and functional at the same time.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The challenge of being an interior designer is overcoming the stereotype that it is always a glamorous job. The consumer doesn’t see the hard work happening behind the scenes dealing with delays, cancellations, last minute product discontinuations and just good ole’ human error.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We offer full-service interior design and remodeling services in the DFW metroplex. Our design philosophy is designing homes for how consumers really live in their homes. We specialize in creating spaces that are timeless, approachable, functional and aesthetically pleasing for years to come. Our most prized branded designs are kitchens and bathrooms of any size and budget. What sets Tamela Bowie Interiors apart is our approach to the design process…we try to make the process fun, educational and exciting for the consumer/client.
