Hidden Gems: Meet Chelsea Campbell of Soyful Scents

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Campbell.

Hi Chelsea, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My candle-making journey was inspired by my love for scents and more specifically scented candles! After much candle shopping, I began to get curious on how candles were made. I started researching everything about candles and the process of making quality candles. I read books and articles, watched countless videos, and of course, one of the greatest teachers, trial and error! From there, it turned into a hobby. I made candles for almost two years before the idea or creation of Soyful Scents. In addition to candle-making, I enjoy writing poetry, especially haikus. I’ve been writing poetry since high school. I am also a fan of writing and reciting affirmations. So, when I came up with Soyful Scents, I decided I wanted to infuse all three of my interests and creativity. It is my goal to use my gifts and creativity to inspire and uplift others, as well as provide quality products.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Most of my struggles have overall been minor, growing pains since I am new to entrepreneurship. There have been a few moments of doubt and insecurities on if I was capable of running and maintaining a successful small business while also working a full-time job. So, I’ve had to learn how to manage my time more effectively, as well as my mind, and not give in to the doubts. It’s just really cool to see how my hobby is now a small but growing business. I am just enjoying the journey–the ups and the downs because I know there are lessons in them both.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Soyful Scents offers hand-poured 100% soy wax candles. Our candles are made with eco-friendly wicks and fresh fragrances. They are also made in small batches to ensure highest care and quality. All candles come with an affirmation haiku poem that is written by me. We also offer wax melts and will soon have incense available!

I think what makes us stand out the most is the unique touch of the affirmation haikus. A lot of my supporters have given amazing feedback on how the affirmations have inspired or helped them.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Although I am the owner and face of Soyful Scents, there has been other people behind the scenes that has helped me get to where I am now. My close friends and family have been very supportive and helping in any way that they could, whether that was assisting with pop-ups, designing my brand logo (my sister), giving feedback on candles and name ideas, gifting me candle supplies, spreading the word about my business, or just giving me encouragement on the rough days. My ‘customers’ have also been very supportive and key to my success.
