Inspiring Conversations with Brittney Bogues of Bogues Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Bogues. 

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my journey as an entrepreneur over ten years ago with my first business heavily focused on sports communications. Being the daughter of a former NBA player, I thought it would be an easy transition but quickly found that not to be true. From seeing my first business steadily grow, but not succeed, taught me valuable lessons on leadership and business. Before launching my agency, I worked for two nonprofits with severely different leadership styles. I set out to get my Master’s Degree in communication, acquired new skills and launched my latest company, the Bogues Group. I started this agency based on faith and hard work, so to see it grow into a six-figure business as a black woman in business in less than 4 years is a tremendous feat– one of which we hope to collaborate and inspire others looking to pursue their dream. I publicly shared my domestic violence story via Huffington Post in 2019 and since have become an advocate for change and awareness. My story is one of faith, hustle, and fun.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are several obstacles or struggles that are encountered being a woman in business in the sports/entertainment industry. In addition, being a Black woman comes with its own unseen struggles like being overlooked for projects and having limited options for securing funding. Another major hurdle has been access to opportunity and social capital– there are bids, RFPs, and other jobs that are listed but unless you’re connected or in the “boys club” you will have no idea.

Bogues Group is a consulting agency specializing in solutions. Our core services are public relations, marketing, and event planning. We focus on delivering to our clients quality consulting, creative solutions, white glove customer service, and connecting them with their desired audience. We devise a custom approach for each client that tailors to their needs and is centered around what sets our organization apart: design, data, and detail. We go above and beyond for our clients and our teammates to ensure we deliver results.

Any big plans?
We are looking to expand in various targeted cities and offering in the new year our first product. Our typical client is an established business or public figure that wants to take their brand to the next level. However, our new product is for beginning entrepreneurs and those looking to learn how to build their brand on their own
