Life & Work with Kira Winston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kira Winston.

Hi Kira, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
From childhood, I’ve always had a passion for good food, easily I was able to identify how much food brings love into the atmosphere when it is prepared with the right intentions. My love for food peaked my interest in learning how it was made which I gained many skills working alongside my mother and both of my grandmothers cooking family dinners in my early years. The love they put into making our meals always radiant in each bite.

As I grew, I began to cook for my family and friends when recipe ideas came about. From then I knew giving back and sharing my form of love with others in some way was in alignment with my purpose on earth. After many years of seeking clarity in my divine purpose while holding on to faith, I quit my job and prayed that I was able to tap into my higher purpose, after a few weeks BitesbykaiLLC came along in March 2020. In idea, my platform was going to be for food content but the more I posted, the more people my work reached and so many people wanted to try Bitesbykai. Soon after, I decided to start selling hot plates to my local followers. Within a year’s time, I’ve landed opportunities to cater weddings, large events, intimate dinners, meal prepping and, so much more. Having faith, pure love and pure intentions with my work is what has kept me aligned with my path.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has been a bit of a rollercoaster, a nice one though. One of my struggles is being okay with the highs and lows of having work. You could have a great thirty days with a consistent flow of customers and the next fourteen, you have none.

The biggest struggle I’ve faced is not being so hard on myself and my work and remembering I’m doing great. Sometimes moments are overwhelming and things don’t go as planned and it dwells on me especially being that I am in charge of myself whereas at a company job, I would have a manager or coworkers to help me redirect that energy and as the boss, I kind of only have myself to lean on for now.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a freelance cook, I specialize in home-style southern cooking and healthy lifestyle/vegan meals offering caterings, intimate dinners, weekly plates and meal prep to my local community.

I’m most known for my weekly plates and food content on @Bitesbykai

I’m most proud of my ability to help others feel an abundance of love and a sense of peace after they have a hot meal from me.

Something that sets me apart is my passion for what I do. I have the ability to keep a tunnel vision when it comes to my work without being in competition with anyone around me. I choose to uplift and encourage others in my line of work and try my best to promote unity with other locals because there’s so much room at the top.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
