Life & Work with Rodriunna Simpson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodriunna Simpson.

Hi Rodriunna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I would first like to start off by saying that God gets all the glory for my story, and thank you all for this interview! I will start by stating that I was born and raised in the great city of Memphis (the most beautiful land in the world lol)!! My childhood life started off pretty regular until I suddenly lost my mom when I was 7. That situation affected in such a crazy way that I honestly couldn’t piece together until I became an adult. I now use my past trauma to encourage and embrace others through theirs.

Education-wise, I finished high school and finished college. You know, “the regular” stuff. I still wasn’t fulfilled. For a long time, I felt as though I was going through the motions, and nothing was happening for me. I felt like I was living to impress family rather than living for me. It felt like life was living me rather than me living life. Hopefully, that makes sense, but in short, I just felt like I had no purpose.

I worked as a kindergarten teacher for two years, and for those two years, that was the most depressed I had ever been. While working in the school system, I became a published author, and put my feelings on paper to help others. Eventually, a light bulb went off in my head. I loved Memphis, but I knew I needed a new city that was bigger and had more opportunities. That’s when I found a job, within a 3-week time span, and moved down to Dallas. Even though I got a new job, my end goal is to never have to work for anyone other than myself. I am entrepreneur, content creator, and an author all wrapped in one.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never been a smooth road, but the funny thing is that I never imagined it to be. The God I serve would never take me through anything that he hasn’t already promised He would bring me out of. I am actually going through a moment where I am trying to get my cosmetic business back up and running & that has been a struggle but a good struggle.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I see myself as eventually being an all-around BOSS! As of now, I have one book published with more on the way, so stay tuned. I am the owner of ‘The Radiant Effect’ which is a beauty/ cosmetics company for men and women. My website will be launching soon. I also have a YouTube channel that features video topics surrounding inspiration, lifestyle, and faith. You all should subscribe lol!!

At this moment in time, I am most proud of me! I know that sounds cliche, but it’s really the truth. I am proud of myself for taking a leap of faith and trying new things. What sets me apart is that I am creating content and selling products that help people from the inside out. People will be inspired and lives will be changed.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I have learned that I’m truly meant to be different. I don’t fall into the same category as my peers. This was a hard realization, but doesn’t make me better than anyone; it just makes me different.
