Life & Work with Trelvis Giles of Pleasant Grove

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trelvis Giles.

Hi Trelvis, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I was raised by my grandmother and Mother in Pleasant Grove Tx. I went to high school at North Mesquite High School. My mother was in an abusive relationship while I was in school so we were forced to Sneak out of the house while my stepdad was at work. That situation and move in with my grandmother my mom had heart surgery shortly after which forced her to stop working and put a big chunk of the responsibility on my granny. My granny developed ovarian cancer and passed away and it was up to me and my sister to provide and work while still in high school.

I worked a lot of jobs around the DFW and went to radio broadcasting I graduated from there and go a job as a promotions assistant at Iheartradio working with acts like Kidd Kraddick, Russ Martin, Bo & Jim, Billy The Kidd, and other on-air talents. I left iheartradio when I received an opportunity to work for Service Broadcasting which owns K104 and Smooth R&B 105.7

I worked my up from board op to overnights on air, to working with the Morning show on DeDe In the morning. I have built a strong solid following and foundation on social media as well with form partnering with the radio station as well.

I can go more in-depth with the complete story if I am selected as well!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My mother was in an abusive relationship as I was in high school, we had to sneak out of the house in the middle of the day while my step-pops was at work. We moved in with my granny at her home in pleasant grove my mom had to have heart surgery and my granny developed ovarian cancer and passed away and I had to work odd jobs at the DFW Airport, Pepsi, and go to school for radio broadcasting. I have turned away from K104 time after time after time as I applied until they finally took a chance on me and gave me a shot, I was close to quitting just as I got my opportunity, I was working for a paint store at the time!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
