Meet Ashley Pinchev of Worthington Corners

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Pinchev.

Ashley, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I founded Worthington Corners in the fall of 2016. I’ve always been interested in women’s fashion and accessories and throughout my early 20s became known amongst my friends for always wearing scarves during the winter months. Launching a line of accessories seemed to be a natural step expanding upon a niche that I already loved. Worthington Corners offers limited run collections of timeless woven accessories for women ranging from lightweight wraps and pashminas to cashmere scarves.

During my time at SMU, I studied abroad at the University of Oxford and was lucky enough to spend my weekends traveling throughout the U.K. and Western Europe. I was so inspired by the deep history of architecture, manufacturing, and fashion. I am passionate about both quality of material and classic designs that will never go out of style. At Worthington Corners, we do not follow trends but rather focus on effortlessly elegant designs that are truly timeless. Our most iconic collection is the Herringbone Collection and what many don’t know is that the herringbone pattern can actually be seen throughout fashion and even architecture dating back to the Roman Empire.

Prior to launching Worthington Corners, I immersed myself in learning about both natural woolen materials and the process of weaving each individual textile. As quality is one of Worthington Corners’ hallmarks, I’ve committed to sourcing only natural wool fibers including cashmere, merino wool, and mohair for our woven textile collections. The materials themselves are woven at an Irish mill dating back to the 19th century. I am so proud that our collections are manufactured exclusively in Ireland as it embodies everything that this brand is about.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I first launched the boutique, we sold our collections exclusively online. After receiving feedback from friends and customers about the high-quality of our pieces and the super soft textures, I realized that I could not ignore the need for potential customers to touch and feel the textiles. We are so excited to be participating in pop-up shops and trunk shows this fall for that very reason!

Another obstacle I’ve encountered over the past few years as an online boutique owner is the seasonal nature of our collections. We’ve pivoted our marketing strategy to showcase our Lightweight wraps and Pashminas throughout the Spring/Summer as they are the perfect accessory for an outdoor wedding, travel or a chilly evening at the beach.

Please tell us about Worthington Corners.
Worthington Corners offers high quality woven collections manufactured by world renowned weavers exclusively in Ireland using only natural fibers, creating a product that is effortlessly elegant and timeless. We pride ourselves on utilizing all natural materials and never incorporating any synthetic or man-made fibers into our products unlike those found in lower quality scarves and textiles. The different types of natural wools used in our products gives unique characteristics to their collection, with ranges in texture, softness, thickness, and openness of the weave. Our current collections feature pure cashmere, merino wool, and mohair fibers. Since we our an online boutique, we are in the unique position to offer classic scarves of incredible quality and design at price points lower than any department store brand or competitor. We also offer complimentary custom monogramming and gift wrap on every order.

Our collections are all limited run making each piece truly special. We currently offer five scarf collections and are very excited to be launching an additional scarf collection in a beautiful buffalo check pattern as well as our very first home collection featuring cashmere/merino blend herringbone blankets. Our herringbone collection has been our most iconic seller and I am so happy to be bringing the same elegant pattern and textile into our product line up as a throw blanket!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I was a competitive figure skater throughout my childhood and many of my most cherished memories revolve around early morning free skating sessions at the ice rink. I’ve never felt as care-free as when zooming around the rink and the sense of accomplishment from landing a new jump or acing a new spin is exhilarating. Perhaps, my love of chilly weather accessories was truly born from all the time spent in a frozen ice skating rink throughout my formative years.
