Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Porter.
Hi Brittany, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my career in 2010 as a brow artist working at my local ULTA’s brow bar. When I first started, I wasn’t sure if it was something I would stick with, as I’ve never considered doing eyebrows as a career. It didn’t take long for me to realize it was something I really enjoyed doing, and it was a plus that I was actually good at it as well. Fast forward five years and I had received a promotion as a sales manager for Benefit cosmetics – The ultimate dream job for a brow bar artist. I found joy in traveling to my different stores, training new brow bar hires, and coming up with game plans to get their businesses on track. A couple of years later and new insight on growing business, I found myself in a transitional period with my career. I was not sure what I wanted but I knew that I missed providing services. I decided I wanted to learn a new trade and I chose to get into lash extensions. I found myself training and coming on with a local franchise lash studio. It only took a few days for me to realize that I did not want to be in the corporate/working for someone else atmosphere no longer. While in the midst of the pandemic, I decided that the time to go out on my own was now. I started my business, “That Brow Babe” business in Southlake. I enjoy sharing my expertise and knowledge with my clients and being able to create a personalized experience for them. I pride myself in providing a transformative brow service for my guests.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I found myself having to overcome the fear of rejection and feeling as if I was not good at times. Self-doubt was a big obstacle for me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
