Meet Carlito Black of Blueprint Music Group (BPMG) in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlito Black.

Carlito, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born from immigrant parents, a Jamaican mother and a Dominican father. My father was imprisoned and deported before I was two years old. I was raised in poverty by a single mother who suffers from alcoholism. My aunt stepped in and has the mother figured in my life for as long as I can remember. Her passing lead me down a dark path and hustling in the streets. I started managing and mentoring younger artists submerge in destructive street life and working on starting a charity foundation in honor of her through the success of my own career.

Has it been a smooth road?
Music has not always been my passion. Initially, I was focused on football and prepared for my career my entire childhood/college years. My best friend was murdered, which caused me to push harder in football. Then I experienced a career-ending injury. I ended up homeless with no purpose. To bring myself out of a depression, I turned to music. Not only do I own Blueprint Music Group, but I’m also a Recording Artist, Song Writer, Producer, and music Exec.

Blueprint Music Group (BPMG) – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Blueprint Music Group is an independent music label and management company, home to Carlito Black & fashion brands Bricks and Crown 305. BPMG is grounded in urban culture and provides a full range of artistic services, from audio engineering to public relations and video directing. BPMG is most proud of being the voice of the unheard and frustrated. We create a product that relates and articulates for the misunderstood. Eventually, with continued success, what will set us apart is our reinvestment into the community.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
A lot of great opportunities are arising for the Carlito Black and BPMG brands. In the next 5-10. I can see the company being a powerhouse of commercial success for all forms of art the leaders in pop trends. We will have to create platforms and outlets in high-risk communities to give opportunities to its residences. Carlito Black will be a charting artist and responsible for introducing some of the biggest names in the industry.
