Today we’d like to introduce you to Dane Beasley.
Dane, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Well, Deonte and I met back in elementary school, 2nd or 3rd grade to be exact. We both grew up heavily influenced by sports and video games. We played middle and high school football together and eventually went off to two different universities. Over the years, we always kept in touch, hanging out consistently over the years. We would joke about making a platform for ourselves plenty of times and eventually decided to start a podcast talking about all things from sports, entertainment, video games, and even human rights to some degree. The name of the podcast was simple, we were practically inseparable in high school, often referred to by our peers as “the Duo.” We have been recording podcasts for almost a year now and it has been very cool.
Has it been a smooth road?
For the most part, we haven’t had any significant hurdles once we found the proper platform, equipment, podcast agenda, it was smooth sailing. The most difficult part of the entire process, to me at least, is coming up the titles of these episodes.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
Well, we podcast. We’ve talked about football, basketball, baseball, Track & Field, Movies, trends, the Black Lives Matter movement, video games, and much more. Our friends and family have given us plenty of feedback and we’ve had even had some pretty high profile guests join us to converse about a variety of topics. I’m most proud of being consistently generating content and interacting with our small ‘fanbase’. What sets us apart from others? Well, we keep it 100%, no sidestepping controversial sports opinions, never compromising our values and where we come from.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Way too many to choose from, but if I had to choose just one or maybe a few – it would probably be the summer before my freshman year of high school. Leaving my house in the morning and going to hang out with my friends. Those days consisted of sometimes riding our BMX bikes all over Killeen, playing basketball at our elementary school with the lowered basketball goals, or heading to makeshift dirt/grass football field playing pick up seven on seven. Then of course, making it home just as the street likes came on.
