Meet Dr. JaNair Osarollor of Sow Graceful Chiropractic in DeSoto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. JaNair Osarollor.

Dr. Osarollor, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
If you would have told me seven years ago that I would be where I am today, I would not have believed you. I actually had a different path that I was on, however it did not end as expected. With a family to take care of, a degree that wasn’t being used, wasting time going down a path that was not working for me… I was praying to God for direction. Ultimately, I stumbled across chiropractic and decided to make that my profession. Simply put, an opportunity presented itself, a door opened, and I took it. Looking back at it now, it was obvious God had His own plans for me.

So, here I am, January 2013, entering a doctorate program for a profession that I did not know much about. All I knew was that if your neck or back hurt, you go see a chiropractor. But boy, was it more to it than that. My first trimester, I learned and experienced what the power of a chiropractic adjustment could really do, and I knew I was in the right place. Once I began witnessing how receiving chiropractic care could help you walk again, breath again, sleep again, LIVE again, I KNEW this was the profession for me. I knew my purpose was to serve others wholeheartedly, and with chiropractic, I could that. Literally, with these two hands, I could potentially change someone’s life for the better.

While in school, I found a special interest in supporting the well-being of women and children after taking an ObGyn and pediatric course. I learned about the trauma that women can go through during what most would consider a “typical” pregnancy, the birth trauma babies can go through during a “typical” birth and immediately wanted to help change that. After comparing my own pregnancy and birth experiences with what I learned, I realized the treatment and care that I and many other women, thought was the norm most definitely was not. I then began training to specialize in pregnancy, pediatric, and family chiropractic care in order to provide a different option and provide a more natural, holistic approach to family healthcare needs. I also became a Birth Doula and found my calling as a birth worker, supporting families and empowering women with their birth experiences. All of this shaped me into becoming the type of Chiropractor I am today.

Now, it’s 2019, and by the GRACE of God, I’m building a business that inspires families to lead healthier lives, helping women have safe and empowering births, and impacting health in my community. So, I’m glad to have stumbled across this path in my life. It brings me joy to be able to SOW into the lives of others, helping them reap life-changing experiences. There is something my mother once said that has always stuck with me, “He will give you the desires of your heart.”… who knew it would be this.

Has it been a smooth road?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road, BUT… I’m here. Going through school with small children was not an easy task, but I made it through. Losing my dad in the middle of my doctorate program was a major struggle. Not a day goes by where I do not wish that he was here to see all that I have accomplished for our family, and so I push through to make him proud. There are times when I question if what I am doing is even right because the vision I have is not happening soon enough. I constantly have to remind myself to be patient, keep working, keep the faith, it’s happening. Finding a balance between my family life and my business life has been hard at times, but I’ve been able to maintain. Even having others understand the kind of work that I do can be hard, but I continue to educate and bring more awareness to my line of work.

There have been many days that I have broken down and cried. However, I knew that the person I wanted to be would require some sacrifices, and I’m blessed to say that I have family and friends to support me through it all. I KNOW I’m making the right decision. So, no, this journey that I’m on has not been paved in gold, but I know that He will not put more on me than I can bear, so I continue to persevere and walk in my purpose.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m the owner of Sow Graceful Chiropractic. I’m a Family Chiropractor and DONA certified Birth Doula that specializes in perinatal, pediatric, and women’s health. What I do goes beyond treating just pain and allows me to focus on the body as a whole. I take a more natural approach, using chiropractic care, fitness, nutrition, birth support, and holistic remedies to help you express and maintain optimal health.

My mission is to empower and serve as many people as possible, especially women and children. My vision is to be an example of health and wellness within the community. Inspiring and educating others to express vitality and lead healthy lives for generations to come.

I am most proud to have created a business/brand that provides and advocates the need for a holistic model of care. especially for the maternal and pediatric population. I am proud to be that beacon, a resource, to make this type of care more accessible. I am most proud to be building a business/brand that reflects me and my beliefs and allows me to help change the course of health by educating, inspiring, empowering, and serving the very community that nurtured me.

I believe what sets me apart from others is that I truly connect and relate to the community that I serve. I have life experiences and testimonies that I am not afraid to share to help others see that we may have more in common than they think. As a more holistic chiropractor, many people may assume that the lifestyle I preach comes easy for me. It does not. I have come a very long way. My family and I work hard to try and maintain that lifestyle, but we’re all human. So, I understand slip-ups, because I do it, and I understand not knowing what to do, because sometimes, I don’t. That’s why I made it a goal to continue to learn and help my community, even more so when it comes to health and wellness. Therefore, know this…when I learn, you learn. When I grow, you grow, we’re in this together!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that our city has plenty of diversity, entertainment, and opportunities. There always seems to be a lot to offer here and something for everyone to enjoy.

What do I like least? I wish there was a nice beach! And, I can live without the traffic… lol!
