Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Wright.
Erin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I received my degree in Fashion Merchandising and knew that I wanted to have a career that focused on design. I was working for a local stationery store in Washington, DC and loved the creativity involved in designing custom stationery. After graduating, I took some time working for different stationery companies, in different markets, to get a feel for the industry.
At the end of 2017, with eight years of experience in the stationery industry, I began the process of starting my own business. At the time, I was living in Addison, Texas but had plans to move back to Washington, DC. Addison held a special place in my heart and even though I was leaving, I wanted to take a piece of this great place with me. This lead to the name of my new stationery company – Sincerely, Addison.
I started Sincerely, Addison in 2018 and spent that year building my business in the DC market. I always felt a pull to go back to Texas and at the beginning of 2019, I expanded my business into Dallas.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I was starting Sincerely, Addison, I had an idea of the products and services I wanted to provide, as well as the brand I wanted to create. The greatest challenge was getting the business up and running. Most of my time within the first few months was spent forming my LLC, meeting with vendors, and networking instead of actually designing stationery. As an introvert who struggles with networking, I had to constantly remind myself to keep my eye on the prize and do what was necessary to help my business succeed.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sincerely, Addison – what should we know?
Sincerely, Addison is a custom stationery company, specializing in wedding paper. I work with couples to create save the dates, invitations, and all other personalized details for their wedding day. I also extend the custom stationery service for all other life events, creating birthday party invites, birth announcements, holiday cards, and much more.
In a predominately digital age, I am proud of the fact that people choose my creations to help them celebrate their biggest life moments. Working with my customers is a true delight and there is no better feeling than seeing the customer’s face when they see the final product.
I feel what sets me apart from others is the personalized experience. I work directly with all of my customers, from start to finish. The stationery I create is designed specifically for that client and is meant to be one of a kind. In addition to designing stationery to perfectly fit the event, I also serve as a reference to ensure proper stationery etiquette and advice on mailing logistics.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The obvious characteristic would be my ability to design stationery, but I feel my strengths in time management and organization are just as important.
