Meet Heriberto Ibarra of Heriberto Ibarra Photography in El Paso

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heriberto Ibarra.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started with an old photo of a woman in bed. When I was in junior high school one of my teachers was the school photographer and he asked me and two other classmates to help him out by sorting some photos that he had taken of the school groups; as a reward he said he was going to show us a picture of a woman in bed (at that time and age we thought it would be a naked girl or something in that nature). To our surprise it was indeed a woman in bed indeed but an old woman in her last minutes of life. The most shocking part was that on the headboard you could clearly see a grim reaper figurine or a ghostly face; that captured me forever. I wasn’t scared but I was intrigued if indeed this could be captured in film. Ever since that day I’ve been embraced with the idea that there is more in a photo than just what you see in them even though this could had been a cheap effect he created to shock the students but this surely made me realize to observe and capture rather than just shoot.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It used to be a more elegant and unique way to express an art, now it is losing respect. Now everyone wants to be a photographer without being an artist. This makes it a hard road.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Heriberto Ibarra Photography – what should we know?
Beach House Studio is a place where Heriberto Ibarra Photography emerged before I was even aware. This business has done quite an extent and diverse work in the several branches of photography. Commercial photography is what I specialize my work in; from documenting behind the scenes for several movies, rocket launches, celebrity portraits (national and international) to family events. Being part of a border town with two great nations rich in a cultural mix is what sets us apart in a very distinctive way.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Loving what I do, it’s my passion, my life.
