Meet Jennifer Gafford of in DFW

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Gafford.

Jennifer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It was in 2012, I decided I wanted to begin writing and sharing lessons learned from my experiences over the past twenty years. I had no idea when I started the blog, that I was about to file for divorce. Discovering my husband’s infidelity after twelve years of marriage and two children led me to where the blog is today… a collection of over three hundred posts on divorce, abuse, personality disorders, child custody and the family court system. Going through my divorce despite its challenges and the ensuing custody battle really helped lead my writing to finding its niche, discovering others who can relate to these situations and helping them navigate their divorces, custody battles and finding healing from being in toxic relationships.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey has definitely not been a smooth road… I don’t believe it’s easy to write about your divorce as you’re going through it… there are obviously many dark days and your writing can reflect those raw emotions. It’s understandable or maybe easier to want to backspace and write what makes it pretty. But life is sometimes messy. It’s common to feel alone and with a relationship that wasn’t healthy recovery is often slow and isolating. However, in that no matter how difficult it’s been I’ve always had faith that God was there through it all. No one should feel alone going through major life changers like infidelity, divorce, custody changes. Often these situations are kept hidden behind closed doors due to stigmas even today. But, people need to know that there are others who understand what they are going through and want to be that support they need.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about – what should we know?
Writing is my passion and are the topics I write about. Readers reach out with questions regarding their personal situation… whether it’s a divorce or custody battle through the family court system. I’m happy to help however I can… it’s not out of the ordinary for me to answer questions and brain storm solutions before work, on my lunch break or after midnight with someone facing a hearing or trial. I believe that dedication and a deep faith sets apart from many of the other sites that give support to those in unhealthy relationships, divorces and custody battles.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I believe it’s a combination of dedication and passion.
