Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesika La Rusch.
Jesika, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In the Fall of 2006, after graduating, I ran into an old friend of mine. She mentioned she had attended a school for massage therapy and recommended that I check out the program. I always had a passion for encouraging others to feel their best, so I took her advice. I couldn’t imagine giving back to my community in any other way.
I started my career at a young age and over the past decade I have experienced how massage therapy positively influences lives. Working anywhere from inside a client’s home to big corporate events has really allowed me to grow as an individual as well as grow in my career as a Massage Therapist.
I am a big advocate of rest, I trust the healing power of touch, and I believe that massage is so much more than a luxury. Whether you are receiving a therapeutic or relaxation massage, you will feel rested, renewed, and pain free.
Owning a business has always been a dream of mine. I was able to open At Peace Massage Co. with a lot of support from family and friends just 4 years ago as a mobile massage business.
Has it been a smooth road?
Starting something new on your own is always a little scary and nerve racking. I didn’t want to take out a business loan so starting small was key for me. There was a little struggle through the growing phase, but I was able to get reorganized. I settled into a new routine that worked for the company as well as myself, making a good work – life balance.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with At Peace Massage Co. – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a local and independently owned business offering massage therapy to individuals, families, and corporations. The community knows At Peace Massage Co. best for chair massage in corporate office settings as well as in-home massage. Using natural products such as doTerra essential oils and organic massage lotion is just one thing that sets us apart from other mobile massage providers.
Another is the amount of dedication I have to my clients. What makes me proud as a massage therapist most, is seeing the benefits of massage therapy improve the life of my clients week by week. Migraines, neck and upper body tension are what I help my clients with most. I do my best to educate my clients on various self-care exercises to help maintain their progress between sessions. To know I have help prevent a client from surgery; it’s the best feeling.
Massage therapy is something I feel everyone should experience at least once, in their lifetime, that’s why I find joy in sharing my gifts with the community. Receiving invitations to be a part of fundraisers and special events is just one way I enjoy giving back.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I moved to Dallas when I was 23 and after living here what I enjoy most about Dallas is its diversity. This city is so big, and it has so many different hidden wonders among the tall glamorous buildings. I love driving around the white rock lake area and seeing marathon runners. This city offers lots of festivals and group activities like free yoga in the park classes, free salsa dancing lessons, and scavenger hunts. There is always something new to experience and that’s what makes Dallas special to me.
The one aspect of Dallas I don’t like can be summed up in one word. Traffic. Ironic since my business is mobile. Ha!
