Meet Jesse Alex of Brand Fiend

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Alex.

Jesse, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up in St. Louis Mo, playing basketball my whole life. After one year on a JuCo basketball scholarship, I quit basketball and moved to Georgia to attend The Art Institute with some childhood friends. We all took up Graphic Design as a major and things kicked off from there. Then is when I found my love for design.

After struggling financially in GA, trying to balance work, bills, and following various dreams, I moved back home to St. Louis without finishing up school. I got a job working in Marketing and Advertising at aka the Yellow Pages. During the position, I had the chance to help small business owners grow and market their business through advertising.

After 2 years at YP I moved to Dallas knowing I needed/wanted to be in a larger city with more opportunities. Soon after the move, I had job related issues so I thought long and hard about what I wanted to do with my life career wise. I had a history of being fired and not fitting in with the corporate environment. After thinking for a while, I came up with the Branding Agency called Brand Fiend.

Soon after I started Brand Fiend, I took a job at The Dallas Morning News in Marketing and Advertising. They were impressed with my skill set and what I did at Brand Fiend. As Brand Fiend continued to grow, I continued working at The Dallas Morning News. After a year of working there, I was randomly told that they know looked at Brand Fiend as competition. Being that they owned companies who did similar things as we did, but what I did there wasn’t a direct reflection of the things we did at DMN. Nonetheless, they made me choose: DMN or Brand Fiend. I chose Brand Fiend and I’ve been on my own for 1.5 years now.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Some struggles include: juggling tons of clients at one time, learning the business side of things, learning how to streamline what I do and improve on services to keep clients happy, time management, and more.

Also, just going from a full time corporate job to full time entrepreneur is a daily challenge in itself. But it’s a challenge that allows me to grow and learn which will help Brand Fiend grow as well.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Brand Fiend – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Brand Fiend is a Digital Forward Branding Agency. We work with clients on a wide range of things. Mainly startups reach out for logo design, web design, web hosting/maintenance, branding materials, etc. But we also provide email marketing, social media management, social media marketing, promotional items, and more.

As far as what sets us apart: we’re a young, innovative team, and also vary engaged with our clients dreams and goals and are willing to do what it takes to help them achieve them.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
For the future, I’m looking to build a more solid team and bring on more established brands to work with. Right now, we’ve added a 7-Eleven account, where we’re doing some social media marketing for. So I think we’re well on the way, just have to keep working hard!
