Meet Josie Villa-Singleton of Eat This Fort Worth Food Tours

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josie Villa-Singleton.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I began a blog, Eat This Fort Worth, over ten years ago because of my love of Fort Worth and it’s growing food scene. I’m a native of Fort Worth and love sharing my experiences at all the great independent eateries in town. Since then, I’ve continued to write about food for several prints and online publications. I’ve also documented my favorite food finds on my Instagram account, Eat_This_FortWorth. I re-launched my blog in May and decided to add a food tour component. It’s an idea I’d been thinking about for a while and I decided to just go for it. So Eat This Fort Worth Food Tours was launched with a Taco & Margarita Tour this past May.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When starting a business it’s rarely a smooth road. I’ve had to learn as I go and sometimes it’s a struggle to battle self-doubt. I’ve been fortunate enough to have a network of generous, fellow entrepreneurs to turn to whenever I feel stuck or need advice.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I specialize in providing unique food experiences in Fort Worth through Food Tours. I curate restaurants and menus to provide a progressive experience that you couldn’t do on your own. On most tours, we visit 3-4 locations on a chartered bus or van. I’m most proud of the positive feedback I’ve gotten from attendees. People have said it’s the most fun, relaxed and delicious experience they’ve been on. Food and Fort Worth bring me great joy and to share that with others is a gift. Part of the Eat This Fort Worth Food Tour experience includes learning the behind the scenes stories of the restaurants, the owners and the food we are tasting.

What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been creative. I loved drawing designs and patterns as a kid and through high school. I enjoyed performing and took acting classes at Casa Manana, sang with the Texas Girls Choir and did several theater productions in school. I started swimming in elementary school for exercise because my Dr. suggested I do that to correct a curve in my spine. Since then, I’ve loved the water and had dreams of being the female Jacques Cousteau.
