Meet Karthika Unnikrishnan, Anjana Nair, Radhika Sajith, Manoj Krishnan, Sanjay Bravim, Sudheer Omanakuttan, and Prabhu Shankar of High Octavez in Carrollton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karthika Unnikrishnan, Anjana Nair, Radhika Sajith, Manoj Krishnan, Sanjay Bravim, Sudheer Omanakuttan, and Prabhu Shankar.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Karthika, Anjana, Radhika, Manoj, Sanjay, Sudheer, and Prabhu. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We are a music band and we started just like any other music band. In 2011, we came across a UTD student who was diagnosed with Leukemia. The student was trying to get a bone marrow transplant and was short of funds to get this done. So, we got together and decided to do a fundraiser to raise funds for his Bone Marrow Transplant. We collected close to 45000 dollars and his transplant was completed with the funds. This motivated us to use music for a cause and from then on, every penny we make through music and other fundraising events goes towards cancer or terminally ill underprivileged patients.

Has it been a smooth road?
We are a very, very positive group of friends and nothing is a struggle when you think about the struggle and hardships these unfortunate families go through. We are just doing our duty as human beings and it’s never a struggle trying to give a shoulder to a fellow human being and being part of their struggles.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the High Octavez story. Tell us more about the business.
We provide entertainment to people and the funds we collect from such events goes to underprivileged terminally ill patients. We do not need to set ourselves apart from others. Our intent is to make more people aware of what we could do for our fellow human beings and make it part of our life instead of having specific groups and organizations do it for them.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We want to be able to support each and every person who would need a shoulder or some hope. The more we grow, the better it is for such families.
