Meet Khalilah “Queen Ms.K” Washington of Neo Gold Ent/Music Group in Irving

Today we’d like to introduce you to Khalilah Washington.

Khalilah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Khalilah “Queen Ms.K” Washington. I’m the Owner of Neo Gold Entertainment/Music Group LLC: Neo Gold Records, Neo Gold Publishing & Da Gas Block. I am originally from New York; I was around Hip Hop during its birth, and saw how it evolved from a community movement to an international business industry!

I have a great passion for music, as well as helping others excel in life, which is why I decided to create Neo Gold! A Pro-artist company that focuses on artist management, artist development, booking, and record label services.

Time factor, during 2015, I was building Neo Gold to a company while working as a publicist at Mighty G Force Radio Soul, aka GFN Radio Soul. Further, transitioning to hosting my radio show, “Queens Corner With Ms.K” with my playa partner (Co-host), Supreme Master DJ Wayne Gee, who is also the founder of the G-Force crew (GFC), GFN Radio and one of my mentors. On the Queen’s Corner With Ms. K, I interviewed many celebrity creatives such as: Angie Stone, Cheryl The Pearl (The Sequence), Tamika Scott (Xscape), Stevie D. (Force MDs), HBO comedian Tony Tone, Azia (Hustle in Brooklyn), A&R-producer-TV personality MeMpHiTz, Multi award-winning super-producer Marcus Boyd, Multi-platinum Grammy award-winning super-producer Slikk Muzik, Eric B. & Rakim, authors, politicians, poets, just to name a few.

Prior to that moment, I didn’t realize Wayne was here until a mutual friend of ours BennyHill (GFC), connected us here in the DFW, and we soon began working! One day Wayne told me, “I may not have monetarily what you deserve. However, what I can give you is knowledge, a platform, and the ability to stand on your own two feet as a successful Black business owner in the music industry.”

From that point on more industry relationships were established. Shoutout to my colleagues, The Celebrity Favorite D.B. Shark (Ablaze Ent Radio), for exchanging knowledge while hurtling towards another win! And, shoutout Lead Production of Ablaze Ent, Toni Brown. Music Industry veteran Easy Tee, and Valerie Brass of Queenz Catering!

This journey has been a marathon. From a multitude of days, weeks, and years spent: Studying all facets of the music industry, gaining the necessary key relationships, establishing new ideas to impact the market, radio, planning, amongst an array of other things. Besides business, community service such as food and clothing giveaways are important to me. My involvement as a member of the Irving District Community Committee speaks to that, and I believe guiding the youth is important in regards to giving back!

My current project is the development of my artists, AJ Chaka & Kéilan; these two young men have the intangibles needed to be superstar artists, each in their own regards, respectively! As both of them have growing fan bases worldwide, we will adventure into more international business in the near future! My eyes are set on potential partnership opportunities that will progress Neo Gold into a boutique label, receiving the support of a major label behind us! I’m happy to see the progression of Neo Gold. One of the things I believe that sets us apart is we are Pro-Artist at the end of day!

Has it been a smooth road?
Not many struggles… However, I would have to say being a woman in the music industry, learning some people lack loyalty amongst other principles! But, when you have these kinds of experiences, there is a moment to learn and grow!

We’d love to hear more about Neo Gold Ent/Music Group.
The primary focus of Neo Gold is artist management, artist development, and record label services. I would say my specialty is motivating and connecting people together!

I’m proud of the growth my company has made, and I’m proud of the impact I’ve had on people! What sets me apart from others is my ability to persevere, even when times are hard!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like how there is a multitude of talent and creativity here. What I least like about the city is how sometimes there is a lack of community (Unity). Whereas, it hinders creatives from receiving more exposure of a higher caliber!
