Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela von Weber-Hahnsberg.
Angela, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I actually never planned on creating a marketing agency! After spending years in a marketing leadership role, I stepped out on my own to teach marketing workshops and courses to small business owners. But as I promoted my courses, business owners kept asking me if I provided marketing services, too. I agreed to help one…then another…and pretty soon I had so many clients I didn’t have time to teach anymore! Soon after that, I had to hire a team member to help me…and then another, and then another, until Manoula Marketing grew into what it is today.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We definitely had some growing pains in the beginning. Getting so many clients so quickly, without having even planned to take my business in that direction, was a challenge. But once we had our team and our processes in place, things became much smoother. I was finally able to step back and really determine strategically where I wanted to take my business from there on out.
Manoula Marketing – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
At Manoula Marketing, we work with visionaries. Business owners who have created their own niches or are disrupting their industries – entrepreneurs who are truly blazing their own trails. There are two secrets to our success: the first is real friendships with our clients. I know it sounds totally cheesy, but I truly do consider each client a personal friend, and am absolutely devoted to helping them succeed – and I think it shows, both in our relationships and our results. And the second is our wild creativity. We pride ourselves on our totally custom, insanely inventive marketing strategies – because that’s exactly what visionary business owners need to support their innovative projects. And okay, I lied – there are actually three secrets to our success. The third one is the fact that we are the biggest analytics nerds you’ll ever meet, and spend hours each week pouring over reports and tweaking strategies based on all that beautiful, beautiful data.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success means strong relationships and peace of mind. I’m definitely a “people pleaser,” but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I want my relationships with my team members, my clients, and my family to be positive – for that to happen, I need to be a good leader for my team, getting good results for my clients, with enough work-life balance to truly be there for my family. And having the peace of mind of knowing that we’re growing steadily, our clients are growing steadily, and we’re all having a great time together in the process – well, that, to me, is success.
