Hi Marguerite, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
My name is Marguerite Knowles, and I am a 22-year-old artist from Dallas! I went to college in Scotland to study Art History and am about to move to London to get my master’s in Art Business. I create acrylic paintings as well as watercolor paintings and most importantly, greeting cards! Recently, my handmade watercolor greeting cards have been my most popular product and are sold at Needle in a Haystack on Preston Rd. as well as on my online Etsy store!

What is your favorite product that you create?
My favorite product that I create is my greeting cards! I make them for birthdays, and holidays, as well as “just because” cards such as “thinking of you” and “I love You” cards! Each card is handmade with an ink outline and watercolor.

What is your favorite part of running your business?
My favorite part of running my business is creating! I love coming up with new ideas for cards, spending time painting each individual card, and perfecting my craft.

What is the most important thing to consider when coming up with new products?
I think there are two important things to consider when coming up with new products. The first is if I enjoy creating the product. My business began because I love painting and created so many artworks I didn’t know what to do with them, so I began to sell them! I love my business because I love to create new paintings and I love to bring happiness to my customers through my artwork. The second most important thing to consider is if it is a product that customers will purchase and enjoy. I began creating my greeting cards as smaller, more portable and more affordable artworks for my customers who may not want a large acrylic painting. As a result, they’ve become my most popular product and my favorite product to create!
