Meet Molly Kidd of Molly Kidd Jewelry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Kidd.

Molly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Since I was in my teens, I’ve always had a passion for putting things together. A piece of fabric here, a finding there, and a new look is created. I began designing jewelry eight years ago as a way to utilize the creative images floating in my head. In 2006, a friend asked me to create a necklace for her and she loved it so much that she encouraged me to create jewelry as a way to occupy my time with two young children and a husband who travelled constantly. Growing up in a household where my mom had several needlepoint and quilting projects going on at once made me learn how important creativity is for the soul. I’m a native Texan and reside in Dallas with my husband, two active children, and our family dog and cat.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road! When I began my business in 2006, I was so nervous about making jewelry for others. It’s one thing to make it for yourself because you know what you like, but being trusted to make something for someone else was a completely different mindset. Trying to please everyone with my necklaces and bracelets spread me thin. Once I figured out my target audience, the creating side became much easier.

Another struggle was learning to manage a small growing business and still find time for myself between all the things a mom struggles with in a day- house, volunteering, and family. My background is in public relations, not finance. I had to learn how to create an excel spreadsheet to keep up with the costs of all the pieces. Thankfully, I had a very patient mother-in-law and husband who showed me how to do all this!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Molly Kidd Jewelry – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
You need pieces of jewelry that can dress up an outfit or be worn casually. You want to look your best whether you’re running errands, shuttling kids around town, or going to a party. You like one-of-a-kind pieces that create a classic look with a modern boho chic twist!

Handmade in Texas, Molly Kidd Jewelry features classic bespoke jewelry with a modern boho twist. Sterling silver, gold filled and real gemstones are used to create unique pieces that can be dressed up for a night out or worn with a casual outfit. What began as a hobby at my kitchen table has since grown into a company. Setting a good example for my children and showing them how dreams can come true when you follow your passion is very important to me as a mom.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the vibe of Dallas! I have lived here for 22 years and I find that this city never grows old! There is always a new restaurant to try, new friends to meet, and new places to explore.
