Meet Paula Diamond of Diamond Tattoo Parlor and Diamond Industry Models in Hurst

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paula Diamond.

Paula, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I apprenticed out in central Texas over 11 years ago. After completing my first apprenticeship I took a second apprenticeship out in Tyler Texas and then moved to the DFW area. I managed a tattoo shop out here for several years (even being voted as one of the top 10 shops in DFW in 2007). I was fired from that shop for refusing to do (or make my crew do) something I found unethical. When the crew heard that I had been fired they all went in the next day and quit. The entire tattoo shop quit on my behalf. I was so moved by this that instead of just getting a chair on someone else’s shop, I chose to open a shop of my own to provide a home for the artists who stood by my side. There is often so much negative stigma associated with the tattoo industry that a lot of people don’t take the time to see all the things behind the scene. This industry is about family. It shows us that you don’t have to be blood to be family. In the last 6 years, I have had my shop I have been blessed to help provide a home for a lot of talented artists, pay respect to our history, grow as an artist and try and change the way tattoo artists and our industry is viewed.

Has it been a smooth road?
Lol, no it has not been a smooth ride and I have more horror stories than I care to mention. I have poured so much blood, sweat and tears into this road I’ve walked and it has been worth every minute. I remember when I first started out I was told to “do the world a favor, save some oxygen and kill yourself”. They said I would never amount to anything in this industry, and here I stand today with my name on a door and the determination to help change things for the better. Not only in my lifestyle but, also in the world. And that is what tattooing is, it’s not just a job, it is a life style. I strive everyday to be better. A better artist, a better mother, a better human. Be the change you want to see

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Diamond Tattoo Parlor and Diamond Industry Models – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a tattoo artist and body piercer as well as a model manager. The shop offers tattooing and piercing in a safe, comfortable and sterile environment. We understand that each person that walks through our doors is there for a reason and it is up to us to give them the best experience they could ask for. That at the end of the day we have literally left out mark on their body and hopefully in their heart.

We are a primarily female tattoo shop that takes pride in expanding our craft and focusing on our client.

We have also expanded into promotional modeling with the Diamond Industry Models. Our models promote not only our tattoo shop but also our sponsor Labyrinth Smoke Shop owned by the wonderful Monica Ferrari.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity and how accepting people are of each other. People are so willing to help others in need and that is what we need more of in the world.

I HATE THE TRAFFIC, it gives me severe anxiety.

Paula is one of the only artists that I have trusted with my body. She is phenomenal at what she does, her heart is so big and she pours it into everything that she does. She is an incredible human being, artist and friend. I am so blessed to have her in my life, and overwhelmingly proud to consider her family.
