Meet Raquel Rivera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raquel Rivera.

Raquel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ever since I was a child, I was involved in different forms of arts like piano, painting & theater. Later in my life, while I was in college, I had an art class in my first semester, where I discovered photography. The first time a camera touched, my hands I knew instantly that it was the perfect expression of an art form that matched my personality and where I could express myself. Now, it has been more than 12 years ago, since I been photographing and capturing photos in different areas and making photography my life profession. I made photography my profession because I’m passionate about it and the only way to become good at something in life is by doing it all the time, so I decided to do it full time.

Photography has been great to me, it allows me to meet so many people, have great experiences, be part of people lives in every season, travel to so many nice places nationally and internationally and it allows me to enjoy life in ways I never imagine. I am grateful for that!

I got where I am today because I always think and dream big for my life. I believe I have a purpose to fulfill in this word and the better I do every day, the closer I get to my goal.

I feel that I’m going in the right direction as I supposed to, with the right people and on the right time. I think I’m taking myself through this journey doing the best I can by serving people, learning, growing and enjoying life. I’m passionate about living life and photography to me is one of the best places to be because while I’m shooting I can be myself, be happy and forget about everything else and I love it!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
A struggle is that I need to keep up with all the new that is out there, I push myself hard to learn something new every day. Everything around me teaches me something new. Photography is an art that you need inspiration and creativity while preparing, doing or editing a photo shoot. I get inspired by music, theater, filming, crafting, visual arts, and expressions. I always make sure I’m producing better results every time. I’m constantly observing what is going around me and finding ways to put in action the things I see and learn.

Another of the struggles has been being a photographer, wife and a mother. I have to push myself with the time management for all of my projects. In order for me to work in silence, I wake up before my kids wake up and work after they sleep. I do work during the day but prefer the quiet time to let my creativity run. I spend a lot of time in my computer doing the pre-production, coordination of the production and then editing until the final results come to my hands.
