Today we’d like to introduce you to Roma Osowo.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born and raised on Tortola, British Virgin Islands. Growing up in our family retail business, I always felt that my path would lead me towards being an entrepreneur of some sort. This led me to study Business Administration with a focus in Marketing in college. For years after graduating, while working in several fields, I always felt like something was missing, and that there was something else I was supposed to be doing. Only a year and a half ago, at the urging of my husband, I picked up some paint brushes, and ended what was a twelve-year hiatus from painting. I very soon realized that Art was tied to my purpose, which has been an incredible answer to prayer.
Please tell us about your art.
I create colorful, bold and vibrant abstract art using acrylics. What I create is a visual expression of my faith in God, and is ultimately a form of worship as well as a vessel to encourage and uplift others. I just released my very first art collection, “The Passionate Pursuit of Purpose.”
We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
I realized that being a creator can feel lonely, and have been very intentional about attending art related events around Dallas. This effort has allowed me to meet some other amazing local artists, which helps to feel a sense of community.
