Meet Rose Scoggins of Pixel Perfect Rose in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Scoggins.

Rose, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I would like to start my story off at a small beauty supply store called Beauty Land Beauty Supplies, located in Killeen, TX. The store was small, had high shelves full of makeup, hair products, and skincare lines. It also housed six huge glass showcases that stored a variety of merchandise that drew customers in to not only look through but to TOUCH. My very first job was in 5th grade, cleaning all the showcases every hour until the closing time after school every day. My boss was strict and I guess she had to be because she was my MOM. I worked hard for everything I owned. If I wanted new clothes, school supplies, or even tickets to the movies, I had to clock in and work for it. At the time, I didn’t understand the work ethic my mom was trying to engrain in me but I use everything I’ve learned from her to this day for my own business.

After working under my mom for seven years, I decided after I graduated high school, I wanted to work somewhere else, a job separate from my family’s business. In the summer of 2009, I was excited for my first real job working at a photography studio called Photo Depot. On my first day, my manager placed a Canon camera in my hand, smirked, and led me to the studio. She stood there, watching me shake with nerves, as I prepped the customer and said, “One… two… three…” about thirty times for a client that just needed ONE passport photo. I couldn’t shake the exciting feeling that I had when I held the camera, heard it click, and saw the lights flash for the first time. I quickly realized that every picture taken had a narrative that needed to be told, even with a simple passport photo. I was inspired by the people in front of my lens that not only wanted their story to be heard but wanted it to be seen.

I continued to take pictures going into college and decided that I wanted to start my own business so I can earn extra money. This is when Pixel Perfect Rose was born. After I graduated college and moved into my big girl city here in Dallas, my apartment was unfortunately robbed. All of my photography equipment and my portfolio are gone. Fast forward to 2020, I realized that photography had been there for me in the toughest of times, it’s introduced me to amazing people, it challenges my creativity, and it just makes me so happy! With all the negativity that’s been produced this year, I wanted to bring joy for myself and share positivity with others. After receiving encouragement and a gentle push from my roommate, I decided to invest in myself and purchase my photography equipment. I started my new and improved business in mid-June and I’m excited to see my business grow. I can’t wait to safely meet more people through my love of photography and visual storytelling.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My photography journey definitely had some bumps along the road. In general, learning my worth and being confident with myself has been something I’ve been working on. Comparing my business to others instead of staying true to myself had affected some of my poor decisions. I definitely learned a lot thus far in my journey and I can’t wait to learn more so I can continue to provide the best experience and quality for my clients!

Please tell us about Pixel Perfect Rose.
I emphasize in lifestyle and content photography. What sets me apart from other photographers is that I will not only provide you with a fun and positive experience but I will direct and guide you through the whole process so you can get amazing images that you will treasure forever.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have done more research on the different applications offered for business owners to help with everyday tasks and admin work before launching my company. It would have relieved the additional stress I had when it came to my time management and being more efficient with my work.
