Meet Roxanna Ventura and Jazmin Salinas Miranda of Sarape Treats in Grand Prairie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxanna Ventura and Jazmin Salinas Miranda.

Roxanna and Jazmin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
One night we were on the couch (during Covid) eating and munching our competitors candy, yes really! It was really good, but we thought, “man, its good, but it needs more of this and more of that” then we spent the whole weekend in the kitchen perfecting our recipe, seven days later Sarape treats came to life.

Our friends and family have really help push us and promote us. We worked through the summer holidays to get our name and treats out there. Then one day we were asked if we would be willing to wholesale our treats and that just opened up a totally new door for us. We have six distributors across Texas and Oklahoma. The journey has just begun for us!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Roxy – For me, time management at the start of it all and coming up with new ideas to promote to get our name out there.

Jazmin – I have two little girls. My biggest challenge is managing my job, Sarape Treats and work-life balance. Slowly I have been finding the balance and need to adjust here and there and sometimes needing to put Sarape Treats at the end of my priority list for the day or week.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We make tasty treats that bring Mexican flavors to American candy that we are most known for. Our Jerky is one of a kind most authentic to our culture. We offer two flavors Chile Lime and Habanero. Our Chamoy is perfect to top off a refreshing drink or to dip in fruit. Each flavor has its own personal touch and made with fresh ingredients (Watermelon, Berry, Mango, Pickle). We believe we offer a product at a competitive level… Get you bang for your buck!

We have come so far is such a long time. Seeing people post our product all over social media or talk about how amazing our treats are. It’s pretty cool to hear our supporters/followers compare us to one of the biggest spicy candy sellers in Texas.

What were you like growing up?
Roxy – I’ve always been a shy person when you first meet me but get comfortable after having a conversation with someone. Growing up with both parents being entrepreneurs, I always knew I wanted to do something for myself. I’ve always been blessed to have everything I’ve ever needed but was also taught to work hard to be successful.

Jazmin – I can definitely say I was a bubble/weird child! I am super extroverted and try to make everyone laugh. My mom was and still is a big influence on me. She was always the main provider and worked hard to make sure my brother and I had all we needed and wanted. She showed me early on that hard work yields opportunities and still pushes me to this day!
