Meet Sabrina Nichole of Heart of Capricorn in Arlington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Nichole.

Sabrina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Two years ago after the birth of my second child, I was in an immediate position to make a drastic change in my life. I was diagnosed with postpartum depression, and I felt the need to make an effort to better my mental state. I have always loved dressing up and expressing myself through my wardrobe and makeup. At the time, it was the only thing that made me feel good about myself. My whole life I have been enamored with apparel of all sorts, shoes, handbags and jewelry. I quickly became fascinated with the idea of sharing my fashion sense with those around me while simultaneously becoming my own CEO. With that feeling alone became, “Heart of Capricorn.” My own personal boutique owned and completely created by me. The name fully revolves around my horoscope sign and the things that I love and carry in my heart. I sell just about anything you can think of while also including couture and vintage clothing pieces.

This past year alone I’ve learned how to sew and recreate different get ups. I love that styles are so broad and indifferent. It challenges me to go beyond what other designers are bringing to the table. I’m far from finished when it comes to my fashion journey. I am learning new things about my business everyday and branching myself out in completely different aspects. I create content on YouTube to show people what I’m about and give them insight to the real me. I have shared myself doing anything from make up, thrift hauls, to attending fashion shows and concerts. It’s been fun documenting myself and getting feedback from people watching. It helps me escape my vulnerability and not care so much about how I’m perceived. I do so much to market myself because I’m not just a boutique owner/designer. I am a woman of all trades and I enjoy branding myself as such.

On top of everything that I do, I include personal blogs, recipes and a podcast on my website in addition to merchandising my apparel, activewear, and shoes. Heart of Capricorn is more than just a name or brand, it has evolved and expanded in ways I’ve never dreamed. This past year alone I have been apart of a couple of events where I created a pop up shop experience for customers to enjoy. It’s been such a delight seeing people really appreciate my clothing and creativity. I am an artist of many forms and I am blessed to have been able to share my craft with those around me.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Majority of the struggles I have faced as a business owner have been from my own anxiety. I am my only competition and I am always dealing with my own version of self-doubt and failure. Low sales and finances do not bother me, those are just negative factors that are a part of owning a business. It isn’t a constant struggle, and it isn’t a complete joyride. It takes continuous pursuit self-confidence to pick myself up when I face challenges within my company. There is no guide to running the perfect business. I am learning as I go. Networking and marketing myself amongst men and women alike. As well as detaching myself from those who serve me no purpose. You live, you learn and you grow into your success. I welcome my faults and transition them into constructive learning experiences to help me grow in the future.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Heart of Capricorn story. Tell us more about the business.
Initially, the Heart of Capricorn website started as a small online boutique with a selective collection of apparel. Since then, two years have passed and a personal blog has been added to my website, as well as an activewear selection, food recipes and a podcast. I include my lifestyle within my brand in hopes to inspire those around me. I am a mother of 3 beautiful children and also a wife to handsome American soldier. I share my life with my website. I include my family, my photos, my personal thoughts and experiences, and a thorough amount of content to help others get to know more about me. Fashion is my passion but I also have so much more to offer, and I enjoy sharing that with the world.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
To be honest, I am blessed. I wholeheartedly believe that the people around me have helped me grow into the businesswoman I am today. I am lucky to be surrounded by such a supportive family and group of friends.
