Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelby Staffel.
Shelby, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Before SS Tech Services, I worked for an IT service provider and I felt like the business was missing opportunities to serve the client’s better. I brought this to the attention of the owner with my ideas of how to offer a better client experience and he wanted to continue business the way it had always been done.
I knew right then and there this wasn’t the mindset of a company I wanted to be employed by and in 2009 I bravely set out on my own to do what I do best. I was starting this journey with nothing, which any first-time business owner knows is a difficult task but I was up for the challenge because I knew I would provide a higher quality of IT support for DFW businesses in my future.
I formed SS Tech Services with the principles of being prepared, respond quickly, and be innovative, (really) be available 24/7 every day of the year, and provide superior service and solutions.
SS Tech Services started by building relationships and working from referrals. Over the last eight years, SS Tech Services has grown into more than I dreamed. I am proud to service client accounts in all different sectors (Healthcare, Legal, Customer Service, Apartments, Hospitality). And, I am looking forward to the continued growth over the next eight years (and another eight after that).
Has it been a smooth road?
There are always opportunities when building a business so I imagine any successful business has experienced growing pains. It was about tackling these struggles as they came along that made SS Tech Services stronger. For example, I know the IT business inside and out but I needed to restructure SS Tech Services internally to accommodate change and implement better customer and billable tracking. Luckily, I have an amazing family and some standout mentors who were able to provide insight to the best way to seamlessly make these business adjustments.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the SS Tech Services story. Tell us more about the business.
I am an expert in my field with the highest attention to detail. I won’t close a job or project until it’s perfectly meeting the client’s expectations. I’m solutions oriented so when a client brings me a problem I provide a full assessment and course of action to address the situation head on. I know that IT is my expertise and not my client’s expertise so I translate the tech-y jargon to the everyday language they will understand.
And one of the most important of all is my commitment to my clients requires that SS Tech Services has the highest level of follow through.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We are seeing steady growth every year in the IT sector and foresee the need to continue growing yearly. As technology has evolved, we are becoming more dependent upon technology every day. We are seeing more and more clients move over to an entirely cloud based environment to ensure the continuity of the business in the event something happens.
