Meet Nancie, Pat Przada and Cheryl Urban of Team-PRZADA, Keller Williams Realty in Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancie, Pat Przada and Cheryl Urban.

Nancie, Pat and Cheryl, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Our story, well… life sometimes forces a change in your projected path. No matter how meticulously you may have planned your career trajectory or your life’s goals, sometimes a crazy turn or an upheaval winds up bringing you a bounty of blessings. You can be forced into change, kicking and screaming or you can embrace the chaos and find the opportunity.

In July of 1993, we found ourselves jobless and wondering where our new path would lead! Pat and I had lived somewhat of a charmed life during our early marriage, birth of our child, stay-at-home-mom, corporate executive-job-Dad, living in a wonderful, tree-lined neighborhood in Plano!

As our new reality was forced upon us, we realized our adventure was challenging on several levels… it seemed the most important problem to solve was how do we move forward, continue to provide? What was the first step to reinventing and resuming our great life? During this time in Dallas, job losses were the norm and often the time between employment was longer than one would hope. Pat realized, that by helping others through their job loss, helping them reconnect, he was helping himself! This new mission got him up early every morning- working in his “at home” office getting organized, making calls, making connections, developing relationships. Helping others to succeed, was in turn, helping him not only survive, but thrive.

As if a total unplanned career change of a single-income family was not interesting enough, fate had a way of adding to the uncertainty of our journey through timing. All of this occurred three weeks prior to our beautiful daughter leaving for college. How would that work? Leaving her family and her home for the first time and in the middle of this “situation?” Thankfully, moving into the dorm and making a ton of new friends was like medicine for her! Her enthusiasm was joyful for us and allowed us to begin planning our new strategy while driving back to Plano.

My mind fixated on the one question I could address; how could I help out? Next, came the logistical questions… could I find a job; would I be able to resurrect my teaching career? Would I still be effective after so many years as a stay-at-home-mother and away from the classroom? Yes, yes, and yes! Fortunately, timing was on our side and I landed a wonderful job with Plano ISD, just two months later.

Pat’s journey to employment took a bit longer. Using his engineering degree and sales experience, Pat soon began a consulting business. The idea of using his strengths and being his own boss was appealing to him. While the work was interesting, the demands of extensive and long-term travel took a toll. It was during this time, that I began suggesting to Pat, a new career in Real Estate. Our daughter and I recognized in him the unusual combination of wonderful people skills and that engineer’s attention to the smallest details and knew that he would be a FANTASTIC realtor. After all, he was a people person with tons of contacts, an engineer with lots of experience running companies, solving problems and serving others! It all fit… why not give it a go?

Once my career in education came to a close, I did not envision myself ready to retire, nor did Pat. We still had a passion to help people, to be involved with our community and to engage with others. So, what did we do? We grew from a one-realtor operation to a team. TEAM-PRZADA is now a three-person family business. Our daughter, Cheryl, joined us several years ago as our “Girl Friday”! We recognized in her exactly what we wanted to add to our business. She is media savvy, our guru of all things interesting-and-must-do in North Texas, creative master of flyers, blogger, posters, websites and Facebook! She is also stay-at-home-mom for our precious grandson.

1993 was a long time ago and our path had a bump or two but neither of us, would change one thing. A scary life change and the ability to embrace the opportunity, after just a bit of kicking and screaming, made it possible for us to continue to help others, grow and author our own stories, if you will. Looking back, I am not sure we could have planned it any better.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course, there are always bumps along the way with any journey. I think the real challenge is how you deal with them. When Pat began as a realtor, there was quite a bit of uncertainty. That old adage, you need to spend money to make money is true to a certain extent. Faith in himself and faith in his ability to help others is often times what kept him going day in and day out for two years prior to me joining him. We have been a team for fourteen years. Working together, day in and day out might be difficult for some but we enjoy the opportunity to grow our family business. The three of us have been a team ever since our daughter came into the world, so working together in a field we are passionate about just makes sense.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a family owned and operated real estate team, TEAM-PRZADA, Keller Williams. Nancie and Pat Przada are licensed Realtors. We specialize in “educated” knowledge for our clients, to help them make the best choices when making real estate decisions. We believe in continued education and both Pat and I hold valuable certifications earned and updated through the years. We are known for our exemplary service for every client, available through-out the transaction and beyond! We are most proud of what our clients say about us, and our service, in their testimonials. Knowledge, Service and Integrity set us apart!

For Pat, Cheryl and I, it is not just about making the deal, selling and listing. It is and always has been about helping people, making connections and developing relationships. Often times, you are there at a crucial time in a person’s life, when a real estate transaction is so much more than the closing table… job loss and forced down-sizing, the loss of a parent, becoming an empty-nester, adding to one’s family, buying a first home! We treasure the front-row seat we occupy when we have the opportunity to guide, advise and work hard for our clients!

What was the role of luck in your journey?
I’m not so sure we would have identified what started our journey as luck all those years ago, but we certainly would now. Maybe, the lucky part is that we were able to embrace such an uncomfortable time that led us to our current reality. Maybe, it is more about an overall positive outlook and the willingness to be open and learn, rather than luck that can carry you far.
