Meet Trailblazer Angie Sian

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Sian.

Angie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
At the age of 29, I was done with corporate America. I took a huge leap of faith and left my day job to pursue my dream of personal training and fitness. I literally started with one client! I was in the Uptown area of Dallas and I began training women in all stages of life. My clients were pro-athlete’s wives, Highland Park moms, up and coming attorneys, musicians, SMU students, executives, and many, many brides-to-be.

I’ve had the pleasure of helping some amazing women in my 15 years as a personal trainer. They all had their reasons for seeking my help. Some wanting to lose weight, some to get “wedding day” ready and many just wanting to get their confidence and strength back. I always knew that anyone coming into my life was no accident.

In the beginning, the main focus for most of my clients was to get into the best physical shape possible. That’s what we started out focusing on but over time the relationships naturally evolved. I became more of a mentor to these women. I began helping them with other issues in their lives. Losing body fat began to involve more than just workouts and food. I began helping them realize that the real journey wasn’t really about the weight at all. It was about self-love, processing negative emotions and letting go of their limiting beliefs.

The business of personal training has definitely changed since I first began. Women today need more than just the obvious. I’ve had to evolve and grow myself to be able to offer more help to my clients. My work has evolved into a more holistic approach and I now offer guidance that addresses their whole being.

My joy and passion are helping women find the voice within. The voice that is calling them to a new standard and a new expectation for the kind of lives they were meant to live.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, not a smooth road, but I don’t think life is supposed to be sometimes! I’d been thinking about changing careers for several years before finally making the move. I had a clear vision of what I wanted to do and just followed the steps to get there. My faith and intuition are strong and I just “knew” this was the right path. That’s not to say I didn’t have days where I questioned my decision. I did have thoughts that I would have to go back to my old career but I really didn’t want that.

It wasn’t instant, but by the grace of God, doors, and opportunities began to open up for me. Clients began signing up for my services and my business began to thrive.

My advice for those just starting would be to “have a message.” What’s your message? What are you all about? Today, women have so many options. They can go to classes, use a workout app on their phone, etc. You have to be more evolved and be able to see your clients issues before they do. You have to bring solutions to people. If you fix a problem for someone, you will be irreplaceable. Lastly, you MUST be reliable. Don’t cancel on your clients and don’t be late!
