Meet Trailblazer Miyan Benita

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miyan Benita.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Miyan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my travel blog when I moved to Israel with my sister after graduating college. I wanted to share my experience through writing and imagery with family and friends (this was before Instagram and how big social media is today) and I only planned to live in Israel for 6 months to learn Hebrew. I ended up living there for 4 years and blogged the whole time! I’ve since moved back to Dallas with my hubby, that I met while living abroad and have shifted my website to be more about my bohemian style and how to let your inner spirit shine through in all aspects of life, style, travel, home decor, etc. I hope to inspire others to travel far and be their truest self.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Blogging and content creating is a constant up and down road. Sometimes writing, sharing posts and articles comes easy and sometimes it can cause stress and pressure. I try to always remind myself to do what I do for myself and my “tribe.” The advice I would give is to stay true to yourself and find what makes you shine, being genuine is always key and making connections with people all over the world and on the other side of the screen is what keeps me motivated to keep going at least.

We’d love to hear more about bohemian by nature.
I love writing, especially about travel. Feeling new cultures and taking adventures whenever I can and sharing those experiences with the world is a passion of mine because there are so many places unseen and so many stories to tell. I always try to provide travel tips, like things I wish I would have known before going to a certain destination as well as sharing beautiful, inspiring photography of places through my eyes.

I also love sharing my personal style and think I am unique in that. I’m a bargain shopper and enjoy a good “hunt.” I refresh my closet constantly (donating or reselling old items) so, I am less about purchasing “staple” pieces that will break the bank and more about unique pieces that speak to my soul – I also love vintage shopping!

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
Reach out to people that inspire you and connect with them any way you can. Find mutually-beneficial reasons to build relationships that can help you grow and learn in what you are passionate about. I think it’s so important to connect and build friendships!
