Meet Von Griggs-Laws of Griggs Safety Consultants in Oak Cliff & DeSoto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Von Griggs-Laws.

Von, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
While serving with the US Air Force, I was offered the opportunity to fill a slot where there were greater needs of re-enlistees. It was 1985, and my last 16 years of active duty were in this field of Safety & Health (Risk Management). Shortly after my military retirement, I relocated to Dallas, TX. and began an awesome assignment as an Adjunct Instructor with TX A&M/TEEX in S& H, which led to me starting a consulting company in the same field. I took several courses with the Veterans Momentum TX & Veterans Academy in order to learn what business owners and entrepreneur’s skills I was lacking.

I’ve also begun a clothing line for female Veterans & their supporters.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
NO WAY!!!!

Marketing and client retention is always a factor/challenge. Unfortunately, many companies choose to invest in a safety policy & implement safe working practices after accidents happen.

The economy recession in past years was dreadful for my company as it was for many other small businesses. The experience of losing 97% of recurring clients was devastating as most clients/customers were in the oil & gas industry or either small, independent contractors.

We were able to maintain momentum and are now experiencing an uphill rebound!

We’d love to hear more about your business.

I’m separated from my competitors by the mere fact that I’m not afraid to say “NO” to clients who are not conscientious & compassion about the lives of the workers over production and dollars.
