Today we’d like to introduce you to Yale Bernadotte.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I grew up watching my dad jam with some of the biggest names in music so have always been around the entertainment industry. The stage, in front of people, has always been so familiar to me yet I told myself I wasn’t going to take that road. I wanted the “normal” job and “normal” life so went the traditional college path.
Needless to say, that 9-5 never suited me much and after a while. found myself DJ’ing parties and weddings. One thing led to another and before I knew it, it became a full-time job.
I had a photographer working for me and a couple days prior to a wedding, demanded more money. I asked why he should make more than me since it was my reputation on the line. AS it turned out, he quit and I did the job myself. That was 12 years ago and totally fell in love with photography. Today I travel the world doing weddings and could not feel more thankful and blessed.
Please tell us about your art.
For me, weddings are all I do. It’s one thing that I truly excel at and get such a pure joy and happiness seeing all of the emotion that goes into a wedding. Joy, tears, happiness, sorrow…all of it is present in every wedding and come the end of the day, I know that I did my part in helping create and forever capture events that will be remembered forever.
Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
For me, it has taken a decade to truly establish myself as force for weddings. My company does the photography, DJ, photo booths and video for over 60 weddings every year. Which means that I personally do over 60 weddings each and every year. Staying focused, never giving up, always learning and leaving egos far behind you and taking risks are all important. Leaving a job to pursue what you love is always risky but having faith in yourself will drive you to succeed.
