Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendra Thomas.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my journey as an author in 2021 after the birth of my daughter. She is my biggest motivation after I had here in 2020 I told myself I needed to do something that she could be proud of. I’ve always had a passion for children and helping youth. So, my book was born and that is how I got to where I am today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
During the writing phase, things can be a bit rocky. You have to find your groove and just stick with it no matter what. I had to keep thinking about my why and that kept me going. Not only did I want to write this book for my daughter I also wanted to reach as many youths as I could and change lives through reading.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am currently employed by the Elite Learning after-school program where I hold be position as a Program Director. I love working with children as well as advocating for children and their needs. Through my position, I train staff and manage the day-to-day operations at several schools. I work very hard to make such all needs are met and that the kids are heard. I have my master’s degree in Education, and I am able to use my degree to help build the curriculum used at the program.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
I love to read inspirational and encouraging books. I also like to listen to podcasts that promotes building your brand and saving money. These things help to keep me on the right path and pushing in the right direction.
