Rising Stars: Meet Rachelle Ugalde

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachelle Ugalde.

Hi Rachelle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got to where I am today by being stuck in situations that made me very unhappy, actually. Before I learned how to set boundaries and put myself first, I was working jobs I didn’t enjoy and had relationships that were hurting me because I was a chronic people pleaser. I, unfortunately, hit a breaking point a few years ago, where I walked away from the successful marketing agency that I had started with my husband. It was because my mental health was at an all-time low. I wasn’t able to get out of bed for weeks. It was the hardest time of my entire life.

But, essentially, that pain I experienced catapulted me into a new way of living. Not to say I didn’t have a wonderful, supportive husband and three amazing kids before this, but I had lost myself in motherhood. I was so unfulfilled. I was so positive with everyone else, but so negative when it came to myself! I had been living my life out of alignment for so long that I was desperate for another way. So I got help. I went to counseling. I read all the self-help books. I started meditating daily, journaling, practicing gratitude, learning everything I could about Self love. It made such a massive change in my life. I started to careless of what people thought of me and focused more on what I thought about myself. I felt more confident. It’s because of this that I decided to take an online course to become a Certified Life and Success Coach. I wanted to help other women start to love themselves. From there, I started a podcast – Real Talk with Rachelle. Then came the T-shirt line that is being bought from all over the world! To now co-hosting my first retreat. It’s been a whirlwind for sure, but I am so grateful for this journey.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road for me. I have had many, many struggles. I have felt “too much,” and I’ve felt “not enough” plus everything in-between. I’ve pushed myself way out of my comfort zone this year. I’ve also wanted to hide and throw everything out the window more than once.

I actually posted a picture of myself in my bra and underwear. And no, it was not sexy. It actually was to show my so-called “imperfections”- cellulite and stretch marks. I wanted women to see a normal body. Instagram is really great at showing one type of body- a thin body. I was nervous to bare this part of me being someone who is a size 10-12 because normally I bare my heart, but my body. I got a lot of great comments and feedback on that post. However, I also got a comment from someone saying, “God damn, your so fat.” Navigating that was a challenge for me. Although it didn’t hurt me, I know that type of comment would’ve sent teenage me on a down spiral. I was able to use it as fuel, though. That comment, that ugliness, that is why I do what I do. I am sure that I will continue to have struggled along the way, but there’s nothing too big that I can’t handle. And the same goes for you too.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I like to say that I’m a multi-passionate entrepreneur that loves to teach women that they are worthy by teaching self-love. I do this through a few different ways.

1. Self Love for Success Workshops where I teach you how to let go of limiting beliefs and start creating a life you love!
2. My line of custom Self Love T-shirts that say “worthy” or ” I am enough” or my personal favorite “Everybody is a good body.” They are a reminder to women that they are enough, every day, all day, no matter their external circumstances. They are available online at
3. My vulnerable podcast, Real Talk with Rachelle, where I bare it all because I believe talking about our pain or shameful experiences is SO healing. Available on Spotify or Apple Podcasts
4. Self Love Retreats with my co-host Wendie Miscavage.

Honestly, I am so proud of the work I do. All of it. Reminding women how powerful and amazing they are… Is there a better job?? I have had so many break-throughs with women that are now wearing shorts where before they felt too insecure, to women releasing so much fear, guilt, and shame. The more women who believe in themselves means that more women will stop settling for terrible jobs, terrible relationships and terrible thoughts. Instead, they will go after what they want and what they deserve. This is WHY I do what I do. Why I share what I share, it’s daunting sharing parts of my life online but the “me too’s” I get from women all over the world is worth every ounce of fear I get before posting a vulnerable post.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I have gotten to where I am today because of the mentors I have invested in. I believe that life is not meant to be done alone. I refuse to stay stagnant and not grow. To grow it requires me to invest in myself, invest in a mentor. I truly believe that the right people come into your life when you need them. And when it comes to choosing a mentor, trust your intuition, trust your gut.
