Today we’d like to introduce you to Zee Banks.
Hi Zee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Peace & blessings! I’m born in Mississippi and raised in Atlanta for the last 16 years. Im currently spreading joy and spirituality to Dallas. I’m Known as the community Auntie of many. I am a professional spiritual coach, counselor, business consultant, writer, healer, tarot reader, root-worker, and Omo IFA. I am a mum of 2+ 1 and happily married to my wife. I’ve came a long way through life and on my journey and I’m honored to share myself with everyone.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, the road to success is never smooth. It’s always going to be rocky but it’s achievable. I faced the struggles of an abusive 6-year marriage, becoming a single parent of two then battling homelessness. I stayed focused on what I was aiming for. That was stability and success. I was already cooking up my business so I worked hard until it paid off. I stayed positive even when I was feeling down. I kept going.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love to announce, I’m a writer first, I’ve been writing stories and poetry since 3rd grade. Poetry is what started my spiritual journey which elevated me into a spiritual advisor. Journaling is the first physical step to healing. I’m known for my advice and teachings because of what the Community have seen me grow from and grow through. I’m proud of how driven and focused I am. What sets me apart from others is I’m not afraid to be who I am. I’m not afraid to be me out loud. People have seen me at my lowest and have the privilege to see me at my highest. I build connections with my clients and support them along their journey.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was talkative yet hushed often. I’ve always been “the speaker” of the household. I was shy around strangers so I mostly kept to myself even though the inside of me was itching to me others. I’m the oldest of 7 so I grew up early to care and put others before me naturally. I loved ( and still ) to read. I was the student who read books in the cafeteria and during recess. I loved mystery books and crime based books. Animals! Oh my goodness! I was the kid who they called the “cat lady” in high school. I was the owner of 10 cats and if you needed one, I got you lol. I grew up in the country and moved to the city at 12 years old. I felt like I could be myself because of all the artists and creatives I was exposed to. Where I’m from, it was all about work and home. I’m proud to be who I am now. I grew out of a dark space.
