Today we’d like to introduce you to Cat.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Being an introvert, I have always thought that I was better off working under people because I didn’t have the social capabilities I have been told I needed with my shy personality. My passion has always been with creativity and working with fine details so finding my place as a lash artist and esthetician was one of the greatest breakthroughs for me.
I realized that my attentiveness and insights have enabled me to retain clientele but working for eight years under several hostile environments has motivated me to take the risk to be my own boss.
I never looked back.
It was by far not a simple task but every challenge was worth it because I was doing what I love without having to sacrifice the integrity and quality of my work. There is a saying that if you don’t chase your own dreams, you end up working for someone else’s. Not only did facing new obstacles enabled me to grow from my experience, it has taught me to go past the stereotype of what introverts are capable of.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
By far, it was not a smooth road. I not only had to worry about relocating my clienteles but to also find clientele as well while fighting my anxiety with socializing.
On top of that, starting off your own business means there is going to a roller coaster ride of financial concerns and it was a daily worry for me wondering my choices were even right at all for taking such a risk.
I literally had no connections but I made it because I had enough experience and trusted my own workmanship to carry on. I refuse to forfeit a goal that I had invested so much time and emotions on.
My work was basically my committed long-term relationship and the only person who is going to get hurt would be me, so I just had to keep going no matter what.
Confidence and trust in your own capabilities will show you what you’re made of, it will take time and it will grow so long as you work on it.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about KittyCatCanvas – what should we know?
My business as KittyCatCanvas started off as a collaboration of my talent as both an artist and lash technician. I recalled I used to post not only my drawings but my lashes as well!
Ultimately, I am known for abilities to fix damaged lashes due to my fastidious nature,
What sets me apart from others was probably because I’m a lone wolf. I am very focused on my work and I let my canvases do the talking. My clients have told me it’s my personality but I’d like to think it’s because I make the diva in them shine, haha!
