Today we’d like to introduce you to Thaddeus Franklin.
Thaddeus, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been singing since the age of three years old. I started out in the church choir and joined in the choir at school up until undergraduate. I participated in everything that I possibly could, although at the time I had terrible stage fright. I eventually tried my hand at songwriting around the age of 11, which is when I completely fell in love with the overall form of constructing a song. I first entered a creative writing competition in middle school and ended up placing third, which meant a great deal to me. My love for writing took off from there and had landed me in the spot I am today. I’ve been writing for up and coming artists, written for a web series “Better Now,” in which I’m proud to say has won a few film festival awards in counting, I’ve been placing in multiple songwriting competitions with Grammy award winning and platinum producers as judges. So, to say the least, I’m on the right path and I show no signs of slowing down.
Has it been a smooth road?
My journey has not been the smoothest. I’ve battled low self-esteem and lack of confidence. When I was sixteen, I went through a phase where I hated my singing voice. I felt my voice lacked a certain skillset and was entirely too harsh. I was constantly comparing myself to other artists. Some could say it was just puberty but to me, it was much more. I probably went a year without singing and writing music. I pretty much gave up on my dream until God told me to sing again, so I listened. Beyond that, I stuck with the music but never made any attempts to professionally do what I loved. I lacked the proper self-confidence needed to be an artist. If I couldn’t believe in myself, how would I expect others to believe the lyrics I’m singing. To be honest, it was until about 2016 when I found my voice. It took me moving to Atlanta, Georgia and failing to awaken my confidence. Even in your lowest moments, there will be a positive message or life lesson hidden within. It’s up to us to piece together that puzzle, and fortunately for me, I was able to solve it. Since then, I’m 100% confident in the music I make and the lyrics I write for myself and others. I’ve realized that no one is perfect, so I stopped letting that break my confidence.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I believe that the old-school R&B will most definitely make its way back to the forefront of the music industry. I think trap will fade away. The industry to get back to a place having true talent on their rosters. CDs will be completely gone and streaming will take its place.
