Meet Trailblazer Ana Machon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Machon.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ana. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I have always had a passion for flowers and floral decor. I started in the floral business about 20 years ago in El Salvador, and I took the leap and moved to the United States ten years ago. I had the opportunity to create floral arrangements weekly for the owners of Gloria’s restaurants in the DFW area. From then, something sparked in me that made me want to venture out more into weddings. It has been more than a career to me but, my passion and love to help brides and couples wedding floral dreams come true.

Has it been a smooth road?
Yes, it was difficult in the beginning because potential clients have to gain your trust especially in something as important as flowers for their wedding day. It was also hard learning English and communicating with the brides, but it has also helped me gain confidence in myself practicing English and having help from family and other vendors. My advice would be to be patient and have lots of perseverance! The wedding industry is a tough cookie. There’s lots of competition out there. If you have confidence, believe in your product and know your worth you can achieve anything!

We’d love to hear more about Pick a Daisy Floral Design.
I specialize in floral wedding decor, meaning bridal bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, table arrangements, etc. I believe in a more personal and family style business. I like to make my brides feel like family. Therefore, I answer them in a timely manner with any questions or concerns they may have. I am reliable and always early to set up at your wedding venue. I have done this for many years, so I know the challenges and ins/outs of wedding decor. I am also bilingual which helps lots of brides that are still adapting to the United States.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
When I had family or friends over at my house, I made it a priority to have the house “done up.” I would decorate and make it my own without knowing that I wasn’t putting this talent to good use, until later. I had support from my family and friends to take on this new business journey, and this is when Pick a Daisy was born. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
