Conversations with the Inspiring Candice Holmes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candice Holmes.

Candice, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story is like anyone who has had to experience a dark time in their life, but by the grace of God not only made it through but grew during the process. I was the child who grew up in a home where I didn’t have my father or mother as my guardians. I was the child who learned later in life that I was taken to an adoption agency to be given away to be properly taken care of. I am the child who longed for love that I thought could only come from a physical person. I was the child that wrote letters to my mom and dad wishing things would be different. I was the child that wanted more out of life than I seen and felt. I was the child that was determined for greater. I knew I had to depend on someone more powerful than any human, to gain the success and peace that money couldn’t buy. I am the woman who had to separate myself from people, places and things to stay true to who I was. I am a woman who chose not to let my past dictate my future. I am the woman that vowed to love and forgive. I am the woman who used my pain to live out my purpose. I am the woman who used her feelings of being rejected and abandoned to use every opportunity given to voice how accepted, love and adored we are as children of God. I am the woman who loves mentoring and speaking into the lives of young girls that live life questioning their worth, living without parents, living their life ashamed of their past mistakes, and want to break the generational curse that they feel they’re under. I am a woman who cares about the future of our younger generation. I am the woman I am today ONLY by God grace and unconditional love!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth journey. I have had to encourage myself and allow the people God has placed in my life (my village) to speak the Truth even when I didn’t want to hear it. There will be times when you feel like your voice matters. There will be times when you feel like you’re not being as impactful as someone else. There will be times when you feel like it’s too much to handle. There will be times when you fall into the trap of comparing your journey to the next person. I can encourage you to keep going! If the road to achieving our goals and reaching our destiny was a walk in the park, you will see more people running after them. It takes work, intentionality, courage, prayer, accountability, and faith! You got this because of who has you!
